Arthur Henry Enock was a self taught artist of landscapes who was born in Birmingham. He started his career working for a Brazilian merchant in Birmingham. There he studied the Coxes and during his holidays sketched views of Bettws-y-coed and around Snowden. He exhibited at Birmingham from 1869-1910 as well as in London at the NWS and at the St James's Gallery. Around 1890, he turned to art as a profession and moved to Devon where he was known as 'the artist of the Dart'. He painted in both oil and watercolour and was noted for his handling of mist and sunlight. Examples of his work can be found in the Exeter museum.
