Thomas Tayler Ireland was a North London artist who specialised in woodland scenes, often containing pools and rippling streams. He is believed to be the son of Thomas Ireland, a landscape painter also from London. Ireland's works were extremely popular during his lifetime and he exhibited regularly at Royal Society of Artists, Birmingham, Manchester City Art Gallery, the New Gallery, Royal Academy, Royal Society of British Artists, Royal Institute of Oil Painters and also the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colour.
