Henry Charles Fox was a landscape painter of mainly rural subjects who was born in London in 1860. He exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1879 to 1902 and also exhibited at the Royal Society of British Artists, Royal Institute of Painters in Oil, the Royal Hibernian Academy as well as the Royal Institute. Fox lived in London and Kingston-upon-Thames, but travelled widely across the south of England, painting views of Surrey, Berkshire, Kent and Sussex. He specialised in paintings of rural scenes with farm animals and people going about their daily business. His skilled execution, soft palette and choice of subject matter have made his watercolours highly collectable. Examples of his work can be found in the Reading Art Gallery.
