Edith Barrow was painter in watercolours who was born in Camberwell, London in 1865. She studied at the Goldsmith's Institute at South Kensington where she gained silver and bronze medals. She exhibited at the Society of British Artists from 1887- 1893, and at the Royal Academy from 1890-1926 with 35 works. She also exhibited at the New Watercolour Society, and many times at the Walker Art Gallery and the Society of Women Artists. In 1901, she was living at Lee in London, however later on she moved to Dulwich and then to Combe Martin in Devon. Edith specialised in watercolours with her main subjects being still life and landscapes. However, it is for her interesting still life subjects of autumnal fruit or dried flowers alongside baskets, jugs or vases that she is perhaps best known. She died in 1930 at Barnstaple in Devon.
